Hey Rick,
I need an update on the situation in Central Africa asap. We've got a real chance of getting the contract to supply security for the elections in Chad in a couple of months. Tim Vecchio is heading up the team to consult with the Chad Officials, they are flying out there Monday so we need to get all up to date intel in order.
Have you heard from the Durban office lately? I hear they are having a wingding at the moment with the African Developement Conference, bet it's tighter than a snakes ass up there after Sandton last year!
Keep me posted

The situation here worsens every day as we approach the elections and it is felt we could benefit from the skills of the TFB teams to hunt out the insurgent cell leaders. I know this is beyond my pay grade to ask for this ........ but you've got to pull the strings and make it happen, This place is boiling over and anything that has been before will seem like childs play if it spills over here trust me. We have 300 men in Ndjamena alone yet we are unable to make any ground in clearing the trouble spots those 300 are under tight UN control i.e good for nothing. We need someone here who isn't playing by their rules or we could be facing a genocide to rival Rwanda if the elections go against the insurgents.

We have two teams at any one time logging whos coming and going from the Mosque at non prayer times as there seems to a lot of activity in that area by non local faces. We think it may be being used as a secure meeting place.
My team managed to get a phone tap on what we believe may well be a high ranking member of the Brotherhood named Kish Pankhania (ill need you to run a check on him at your end) i've sent the tapes back to base but basically he seems to be trying to rally up groups to start trouble if the elections go against them.
Expect next update within 18 hours

Major we have a situation regarding your request for background check on possible suspect Kish Pankhania. I've just been informed that he raised a few flags when Langely ran the name apparently he's wanted by Mossad for the murder of a high ranking agent 15 years ago, Interpol are after him for his role in the financing of terror operations across europe, and your own MI6 want him for war crimes in the former Yugoslavia during the troubles there.
As yet we still don't know much about him other than he's bad news and wherever he is there is trouble so im giving you the official order to put him top of the list for targets of opportunity, we would obviously prefer him alive but if you have to take him out then do so.
Your U.S counterparts led by Master sergeant Kowalski have been retasked with locating Cleric Saieef Al Ussan as we lost him after the election announcement this morning. It is felt this individual poses a very clear and present danger to our mission here and we want him off the streets until such a time as we determine his true agenda. Should you or any of your men obtain any intel regarding him it should be sent both to myself and Kowalski immediately so action can be taken.
Keep up the good work Major
Colonel Isaac J Granger U.S.M.C.G.C

WARNING ORDER
To: G SQN TFB members
From: Major Coleman, OC G SQN TFB
Prepare to move on 48 hours notice. The situation in Khartoum has heated up somewhat and the chaps in Whitehall have deemed it essential for us to have boots on the ground in the city to give a clearer picture of the state of play. Our initial tasking is intel gathering and also to link up with the Si7 elements that are already there. We will be in liaison with Jubba Jubba Chuffa's forces but currently we will remain as observers and not combatants unless in dire circumstances.
Full briefing will be in the briefing room at 0800 hours (zulu) tomorrow.
I don't know how long we're going to be there for so take everything you're going to need for an extended op. The herc is on standby at Brize for the green light so standby gentlemen.

Sir, as you've requested, we've kept a low profile since entering Sudan. So far we are uncompromised by the General's forces and also the media elements in country.
To date, the three surveillance operations we are running have led us to tracking down suspected weapons caches, headquarter locations and two safe houses being used by high ranking officers close to the General.
We've directed the King's forces to the areas of these caches and hq's and they are now out of action but we are waiting on the safe houses to see if either a pattern is visible of use or until a high profile personality presents too good an opportunity to turn down. I've taken the liberty of creating an immediate action plan for such an eventuality and we've also decided that if such an action arises then it will be TFB only and we will deal with the consequences of informing the King later- I still don't entirely trust our hosts.
The regular reports from Si7 and their agents have made interesting reading- we'd like permission to move on this Salat fellow if the chance arises, especially as our mission tasking is moving into this area it seems- it would make up in part for missing him last summer in Chad.
I will keep you informed of any developments on the safe houses and please make sure the kremlin is on standby for an urgent green light if we need it.

Good work so far Major SI7 are pulling out all the stops to find more intel on Salat but he seems to be a bit of an enigma but in the end it will be your work that makes the difference. As soon as we have enough intel on these safe houses to start lifting targets out i want it done. Throw out the biggest nets Major and lets see what we catch.
your right to maintain Opsec over the kings men there official standpoint is friendly but we all now how easily these people turn with the right encouragement.
Brockenhurst has infromed me your men have a good working relationship with the agent in place ? Booer? he seems to have a keen understanding of the situation and the players over there so keep him in the loop all the way im told it will be to your benefit.
keep me informed Major

I've enclosed the detailed surveillance reports in annex A of this message but will just briefly run through what we've found on these safe houses so far.
Over the last two weeks we have kept a watch on two suspected safe houses- location 1, near the old Comboni American School and location 2, near the Mac Nimir bridge.
In that time we have noticed a pattern that on Monday evenings at location 1, a large number, no less than five, high ranking officers close to General Fyid meet for a minimum of three hours. We also noticed a large number of women coming and going from this location before and after this event. On each occasion we have identified Fyid's second in command Colonel Umar. He appears to be coordinating the gatherings at this location and is there so much we believe he is using it at his residence.
Fyid has been to location 1 on three occasions but always with a large military convoy consisting of armoured personnel carriers and soft skin transport vehicles. He looks as though he is not taking any chances.
As for location 2, this seems to be used more as a command relay centre. Our team signaller has managed to identify a larger than average comms signature coming from there and also they have made an effort to disguise their communications equipment that is above ground. The building looks plain on first impressions but after closer inspection of surveillance photos we can see it has been reinforced defensively. We believe also that the main command centre is either in a strengthened room or possibly an underground bunker as the building's ventilation system is 'over elaborate' for a building of it's stature.
Fyid and Umar have visited on numerous separate occasions and a couple of Fyid's General Staff seem to be there near permenantly.
We've also had a possible sighting of Salat. One o.p. team noted and photographed a man leaving a vehicle and entering location 1 on 26/07. The photo is not good enough to give a positive i.d. and our up to date images are less than to be desired but we have a feeling he wasn't military but commanded a great deal of respect from Umar who greeted him personally on the steps.
We're staying in position but i'd like to request a move to pick up one or two of Fyid's General Staff and see what Booer can find out.

I can confirm that our operations last night was a success. The grabs went to plan at 0100 hours local and we now have four of Fyid's aides in our detention. Booer and his team are working on them as we speak.
All teams managed to approach their targets and secure them without major contact. This was partly through their blending in with the local population. The one team that did have a minor altercation only did so after one of Fyid's men got a little close to a trooper wearing a 'little black number' before noticing the 5 o'clock shadow. This resulted in the team going loud and taking out a vehicle check point before storming the target location and apprehending the target. They then staged a fighting withdrawl across the back streets of the local area to their ERV. I doubt the trooper in question will be so inclined to wear such attire again in a hurry.
Booer said he would be in touch shortly with the intel he gathers from our new guests at the patrol base.

Things have heated up a bit since we raided Umar's 'party' at location 1 on Monday night. Fyid's men have stepped up their contacts with the King's forces and have tried to target their ability to move throughout the city through a series of concerted pushes.
The raid went in at 23:30 hours local time on Monday night and we extracted Colonel Umar along with five other high ranking officers. 2 Troop started the distraction on the rear of the target location and got the guards attention on cue, our infil though was alot more difficult and my team suffered a few casualties, thankfully the majority were superficial wounds and they could continue. The bulldozer took care of the main gate which allowed the remaining three troops to gain entrance to the compound on the WMIK's and Wolfs. 4 Troop remained on station to provide security out front while i led in 1 and 3 Troop. After blowing our way in through the front wall to avoid the reinforced door we soon found ourselves in a bottleneck and losing the initiative. I sent my 2 i/c back out with 3 Troop and told them to gain entry from our secondary entry point and we moved into our contingency plan.
We managed to clear through the ground floor after a fierce firefight and secure two of the officers as they were attempting to destroy intel. 3 Troop managed to get onto the second storey via a flat roof on an outbuilding and bypass the defended position on the stairs. They moved in and took Umar and the other three officers alive.
We had to extract quickly and took as much intel as possible with us along with the prisoners. Final extraction was complete by 00:18 hours local.
TFB have taken a hit on this operation but our mission was successful. I do however request urgent reinforcements to deal with the developments this mission and our recent snatches will no doubt have on the state of Khartoum.
As for our liaison with the King, he's not too happy that we didn't inform him of the surveillance targets of the last couple of weeks. But this has been communicated to us through Si7's contacts as the word of BobItin, so i let you draw your own conclusions.
I have restructured our orbat out here to deal with the strength of numbers i have. We are continuing the search for targets as identified by our 'guests' after their conversations with Si7 so any intel i get i will pass on as soon as possible.
I look forward to seeing some friendly faces out here as soon as possible.
