18th APRIL UPDATE- The MoD has now comfirmed to us that the final dates for Op Murabit will be the 30th/31st July. If you have booked already for this event and this effects you then please ring or email Matt as soon as possible.

**UPDATE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the MOD has pre-empted our original date for Op: Murabit. We are now booked for the following weekend, July 23rd-24th, though this may still be subject to change to July 30th-31st. We should have confirmation soon and will update the site as soon as any more information is available.**

Operation Murabit, STANTA Afghan Village, 16/17th July 2011
AOW Tour of Duty, Alexander 2

Location: Ati, Chad. Africa.

Situation:

Victor Aluma’s control over the Chad population, and in particular the dissident Divine Brotherhood of Roy, since taking power has been a difficult struggle.  His Kanem Guera Brotherhood National Army has taken over internal security duties since the disbandment of ISAT and their reach is limited over a country the size of Chad.  The DBR have used this to their advantage and managed on the whole to melt away from oncoming offensives before losing large numbers of fighters or important provisions and supplies.

General Idi Hatemi, Aluma’s Chief of General Staff, has launched an edict to shift tactics to counter the DBR’s strengths and attempt to move in front of the enemy rather than trailing behind.  The city of Ati, 400km from the capital N’Djamena, has been chosen as the location to strike back.

Ati, has been known as a hub for the DBR to use for launching operations on N’Djamena and as a command and control location for those insurgent teams based to the east of the capital.  So far the city has been largely left alone by the KGB National Army with the intention of funnelling the enemy combatants through the path of least resistance to this ‘safe haven’.

Hatemi intends to lay siege to Ati and block their further passage towards N’Djamena and attempt to remove the will to fight their rebellion, their ability or both.
With the close, dirty streets of the city both an advantage and disadvantage to both sides, the only thing certain is that it will be a hard fight to the end.

Teams:

Task Force Gold: Multicam only

KGB National Army: DPM Woodland

DBR Mix of any non desert uniform. "No light clothing"

Mission

Task force Gold/ KGB National Army:
Destroy enemy presence in Ati and regain control of the city for the Chad Government.

In case you missed this on our blog please read the following-

First up, there are still a few places available on the DBR side for the event.  All places on the other teams are now booked but you can still get in with the Devine Brotherhood of Roy insurgent forces for their battle against the KGB National Army and Task Force Gold.  As usual, ring Matt on 07831 429 407 or email bookings@stirlingairsoft.com to secure places for you and your team before it’s too late.

The big news though is that we’ve just reached an agreement with the MOD that means we will be able to allow players to park on-site at STANTA, avoiding the need for everybody to have to park off-site and be ferried into the gamezone on shuttle buses.  This is great news all around since it removes some of the hassle of getting onto the site and also means that we can relax the restriction of only allowing each player to bring on bergen for their kit and one gunbox onto the site.  Obviously we still want everyone to be sensible about the amount of kit they bring, but at least now we don’t need to be quite so stringent with the limits.

We’ll be posting full details and directions on how to get to the site on StirlingAirsoft.com and here on the blog in the next week or so, along with any other updates about the game and the ongoing AOW storyline as it unfolds in the run up to Op: Murabit.  Make sure to stay connected with Stirling Airsoft on Facebook and Twitter to get all the updates as soon as they happen.

Please note for Stanta next weekend, that a buger van is available for food friday and saturday but sunday morning bring dry food as no cooking in buildings.
Currently there is a pyro ban due to dry ground conditions but blank firing grenades can be used.

DBR Brothers, please remember to bring with you your boxes of cash.

You will need money to pay for bribes and fines, and also for your Moam and Haribo fixes.  Have money that is accessable to you & also a deposit box with your family name on it (a box/shoebox or a decent bag will be ok) must be able to be moved if necessary.

I have attached a copy of the template for you to print.  For those who have not yet printed some, it is important for the game that you do.

Black & white variant is ok if you do not have colour.

Stirling Airsoft would like to thank everybody who attended Op Murabit, it was a fantastic weekend with some great roleplay and great airsoft. Thankyou to all who got into character, from the DBR fighters, to the haribo and moam peddlers, the unethical at times KGB, the crazy Government Ministers who wanted to visit the front line and the diligent Task Force Gold teams, you all made the event immersive.

It was good to be able to use a new site that adds another layer of realism to the scenario, we look forward to staging another event there in the future.

Once again, thankyou to those who attended coming from far and wide, especially the Dutch for crossing the Channel, and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
