A first Stirling Old Enemy game - England V Scotland - Battle for the Stirling Shield.






December 6-7th 2008 will see the first Stirling Old Enemy game. The weekend will be run as any normal Stirling themed game with a points system to decide the winner. Multiple objectives running over the weekend.

The counrty that wins the Shield will take it home after having the Name and date engraved onto it. The Scotland team would have it on show at the Land Warrior Airsoft showroom . Airsoft Skirmish will hold onto the shield for the English.

50 players from each country can apply.

woop woop our first event at stirling services and its Scotland vs. England this is gonna be such a laugh hoping its going to be an amazing event and hope its going to be one of many we attend.

...on a side note even though i'll be on the scottish team do you guys still lose points if we turn up dressed like morris dancers?

On Behalf of Stirling Airsoft Ltd, I would like to thank all those who attended and played this event in the true spirit it was intended.

an excellent performance from both sides, great sportsmanship and a throughly enjoyable weekend.
there was some great & fair play from both sides, i would like to mention a lad who referred to himself as barnsey From the Scots, the fair play award for the weekend goes to you, for your honesty & gamesmanship during an assault on building 23 from the english.
There were numerous episodes of this throughout the weekend to those of you thanks!

the white backdrop of snow & icy surface added a great scenery along with some fine displays of keeping on your feet & falling on your arse! but dancing on ice is a long way off yet! so dont go getting your hopes up!

the conditions were great to play in but tough to endure at times especially that wind chill factor, so again kudos to those who defended buildings & objectives and stayed out there fighting for their colours.

big thanks to Scott for your part in orchastrating your boys & your organisation from your end! well done mate and thanks!

All the staff & marshalls who once again did their jobs and everything asked of them.

to Kelli & Karen in "kellis Deli" for keeping the Lads & Lassies well fed & brewed up & for keeping me brewed up ( special thanks for that one you two)

to steve reynolds @reynoldsfilm.com for capturing the action & all the work that will go into your film of making us all look ace!!!!

The England Scotland Game lenged has begun, history has been written & the sheild now has to be defended & won!

The Gaunlet was throw before us for the England Vs Scotland Game!
A tough task for both teams as this was the First of such an event & so to win the coveted shield and be the first name on it had added pressure.

I as commander stood before the troops infront of me split down into seven small sections Alpha through to golf.
Alpha were our QRF team,
Bravo through to golf were the Strike force.

I aksed for simple but demanding tasks, to communicate, work as unit, but work together as a TEAM.
rotatation of tasks & Orders where & when possible to avoid becoming static.

We had a Task of forming a Baseline across the city (Hadrians Wall) that would give us the lions share of the area, and would allow us a great vantage at which to run & operate from,
the Command Group started out from the fuel depot to secure us the usage of vehicles for the hour that needed securing, whislt the units bravo to golf  formulated the building of our Hardians Wall. which was done with speed agression & we soon had the leverage we wanted.

The Saturday day saw the English Side start to dominate & take key targets. not only where we to take the key targets but wherever possible we were to regroup & hold additional points scoring objectives on the hour.

The Only thing we could not control was the kill count so our plan laid heavily on scoring valuable points  wherever we could.

the first movabloe objective was gained by the scots! & they sat on 100 points as they located & moved the 2 stingers.

The contriol of the Area & the strength of Hadrians wall stood fast to pockets of attack.
the scots now seeming pushed back towards the Ritz hotel Area & Big Ben, soon to become just the ritz area as Charlie & Bravo took control of BIg Ben (the tower)

We soon had in our grasp a stinger also & this was taken to Big ben for holding initially then moved around the site accordingly.

Not only had we managed to gain  key target buildings we had got a firm grasp on the stingers & the Banks Cash & Gold, we were sitting pretty & everything that had been spoken about in the breif was carreid out with passion & Pride, our Morale was high & so were our points tally.

Late sat night though the scots in true Celtic fighting spirit regrouped licked their wounds & made a push on us!

 as Sunday morning broke & i tasked each section & briefed them on what we needed to do, news broke that the scotts had been the early bird & they had caught the worm as their brisk start earned them the stinger cache and they blew the tower bridge, they were rocking up some kills & a building tally also, they had strated their big push for victory

The Battle picked up pace & became fierce as each side rallied for their country's pride.
The English Secured  a corden around big ben ready for the cash, gold & now one retrieved stinger to be relocated to BIG BEN. the search continued for the remaining stinger & the Instruction to fold hadrians wall & secure big ben was called in & the security corden tightened & we staved off mortar attacks as the scots threw everything they had at us.

We had it locked down, a secure corden & the Loot and enough points in the bag to hopefully carry us through.
It was! as end ex was called news broke that we had sealed the victory.

I would just like to say that, Command is only as good as the bodies on the ground carrying out what is required of them.

I was Very proud & Pleased with every single member of the English side.
you did yourselves proud, you did your country proud and the english have their name on that shield

you each fought hard & the victory was well & truly deserved, Taking nothing away from the scots, but in my opinion the battle was won on saturday, as we had planned, we just had to keep one step ahead from there.

Again it was a plaesure to ride out into battle with All the members from each section.
Personal thanks to each 1IC & 2 IC from each section that commanded their group you did a fantastic job.
to name individual members would be unfair as this was a TEAM achievment.

But this one sounded like one for the history books.

Initially the thought of a lonely Borders Bad Boy who contacted the ever cheery Matt Belgrove about the thought of a cup or shield up for grabs. The idea quickly took shape and the Auld Enemy Game was conceived.

The Scottish split themselves into 4 squads, 3 heavy strike squad and a QRF/Recon Squad who would run more low key objectives.

After a Friday night of intense preparation the Scottish prepared some more with another crate of beer. Once this was done the conversation quickly turned to who’s sister looked the best and who’d drive to McDonalds for breakfast. The battle plan was also drawn somewhere in amongst this festive cheer.

The Scottish teams decided on a two pronged assault down each side of the camp. The Recon team moved down the easy to defend side and the rest would head around the far side tasked with holding back the full onslaught of the English assault. The Recon team pushed on to help limit the movements of the English force without much success and the remaining fire teams managed an early snatch of the stinger missiles.

It was around this time that the communication began to falter on the Scottish side. Many began to tire and lost the will to keep pushing on, this caused us territory bodies and worst of all, points. The rest of the afternoon saw the treads of our battle plan unravel and things grew darker and darker for our few brave men and women left on the battlefield.

As darkness fell and a large portion of the Scottish players headed out of the game to rest or eat a determined few drew a line in the snow, literally, and said NO MORE. This is no the way we are going to end this, this is not the way we are going to loose! We had accepted that the lead gained by our hearty foes was great but we would not do ourselves the great dishonour of rolling over and giving up!

Our team commander had given up hope but our assault team captains had not. In a secret meeting the 6 captains met and devised that we would not be able to win it seemed but we could do a lot of damage and make it so difficult for the English side that they may think twice about pushing into our positions.

Slowly our momentum gained over the evening and around 8.30pm on Saturday evening we threw everything we had at the English defenses. Several well timed assaults utilising both vehicle and foot assaults combined with the awesome power of their LAW launcher bloodied the enemy but did not deter them from coming back.

The Scottish were spread out in a thin red line across the camp, there number a mere 25 but they knew that there was a evening objective that did not rely on great numbers. It was then they captured the two spidermen and gained valuable points. This coupled with in increase in the number of kills gave them hope that they would maybe turn this around.

There hopes could have been fulfilled if they had captured the mobile objectives by the end of the evening but the English side were too well organized and had then very well protected….. but not so protected when they slept….

The Scottish captains once again met at midnight, they knew that the chance of victory was all but gone but the cause still stood. The right to stand shoulder to shoulder and fight. The honour and desire to play on grew stronger, a new sense of purpose washed over the team as they decided that they needed every possible advantage they could muster and if it meant no breakfast and a early rise so be it!

At 6.30am, under the cover of darkness a band of 15 hardy troops set out. Quickly followed by other followers who had heard of this outlandish new plan the number grew to 30. When the English arrived to resecure their stingers they were dumbstruck, two long drag marks away from the stingers location were all that remained. Well not quite.

A Scottish contingent had stayed in the fuel bay near where the stingers had been as a decoy. The Scottish had hoped that the English would presume we’d been lazy and quickly snatched the stingers and taken them to the nearest secure location. The plan couldn’t have worked any better.

A firefight erupted the likes this captain had never seen before. Fast, well organised assault squads crashed into our defenses. Wave after wave hit the impenetrable walls and cracks began to appear. Just when things looked grim a Scottish task force arrived from behind the English lines and assisted us in wiping out the assault teams. We knew that it would be a short lived victory, we dispatched a large number away from the fuel bay while we could. There was no point in loosing good people and more importantly points. A handful of souls remained to guard the lost cause that was defending the fuel bay. The stingers were gone, but the determination of the English had not. A huge assault force attacked for every direction, our 50 cal unleashed hell across the enemy lines and slowly our defenders went down. The English had won the fuel bay but at a huge cost in points. The Scottish had won a little pride.

Our defense for the rest of the morning was a mere shadow of the epic battle in the Fuel Bay. Other objectives such as blowing up Tower Bridge after a small team ambushed the English squad kept up moral and the troops kept pushing on. Many players had only an hours rest the day before and a few hours sleep but still they pressed on, making every inch the English took from us cost them something.

Then it was over, we knew we had lost. But we also felt that those who had stood beside us on that morning, Scottish, Irish & English, and fought on and fought bravely had done ourselves and our respective countries proud. We couldn’t have asked for a more worthy opponent.

My thanks go out to all the players on both sides who played in the true spirit of the event. Special thanks to the event organizers and marshals who made it all possible and to those who will once again rise up and stand shoulder to shoulder.

Thank you everyone for such a wonderful weekend, the trip was really worth it and Tony and I had the time of our lives!!
The sportsmanship, level of play and atmosphere was superb the whole weekend. Everyone did an amazing job and it was lots of fun!!

I managed to take a few photos, there aren't many interesting ones as I could only take pics when all was calm as I was concentrating on the game itself. The photos are in the Stirling game in my gallery, this is the direct link to them:
