Stirling Selection 09

29/30th May

Location: Great Blackhill Farm, Olchon Valley.

A true test of one's physical, and mental endurance. Selection is a scaled-down version of the infamous S.A.S. selection course. Participants will be required to face the challenges of point-to-point, followed by a real-time tactical exercise whilst under the constant threat of enemy capture.

Stirling Airsoft selection course was first run in 2003. It was designed to push the candidate to the maximum of their ability and for us to select a team that we belived would suit the style of scenario's that we operate.

So far since 2003 we have had 312 candidates both male and female through selection from people wanting to test themselves,  for their charity, or to get into the Stirling Airsoft selection team. Out of 312 candidates only 33 have passed.

Sitting here at work today, I feel a million miles away from selection and although it was tough (bloody tough), I kind of wish I was still there.

It truly is a fantastic experience and for people who have never done anything like it before, you should attempt it. Be warned - it's no walk in the park and without the correct build up training and the correct mental attitude, you won't stand a chance. You really have to want to pass and pass for all the right reasons.

A massive thanks to Matt, Keith, Ben and all of the DS, who did a throughly professional job throughout. A special mention for Tyler, you are a legend, your turn next year mate.....

I can't wait for the next event so I can wear my badge with extreme pride.

It was truly the most unbelievable experience I have ever been through. It was tough and yet I'm sad to be back to normal daily life! As Ed says it is no walk in the park, you need to train and be mentally prepared, there was nothing I wanted more than to pass and I still can't believe I have!

I would also like to thank Matt, Ben, Keith, Tyler, Mark and all the staff, you all know I am eternally thankful, I send you all a big big hug and kiss. A special thank you to Faye for being there specially for me!

I can't wait for the next challenge, I am so proud to belong to the best!

This has been an experience that I will never forget. I have never pushed myself so hard before and cannot put into words the sense of achievement I now feel. Not knowing that much about Stirling Airsoft before I turned up for selection, I have come away with nothing but total respect for everyone who is a part of it. You guys are the elite, no doubt about it.

From my point of view, the whole event was perfectly organised - totally professional!

Thanks to everyone at Stirling Airsoft; it was great meeting you all. I really hope to see you again soon where I will be wearing my badge with pride. It was also great meeting all of the others who took part in selection.

Looking forward to the next time we meet.
