A Year In War
The Second Six Months

Early August saw an increase in Militia street violence in N'Djamena Chad
Car Bombings and Kidnappings were a daily occurance in the build up to the Elections.

August 11 2007 saw Henry George Tuwkani win the Election to become the new President of Chad Beating rivals Ahmed Fazurk leader of the Azar party and Saieef Al Ussan the hard line Cleric.

After only days in office Tuwkani was kidnapped as N'Djamena descended into all out war with Britsh and American troops trying desperatly to hold onto the posistion of order in the city.

Tuwkani was rescued and hospitalised for his injuries and almost immediatly found himself to be in Exile. Coalition forces lost much ground during the 2 days of fighting that put this new conflict right on the front pages and sent the world a darker message with one British Officer being court martialed for for abuse of his powers and breaking rules of engagement. Coalition forces still however maintain a grasp of control in the citys east sector.

The end of August saw more problems as Russia stuggled to contain the growing violence of the Fuel Protests.
Protests continued through September and towards the end of the month the world saw acts of terror spark all over the former Soviet Union.

October saw more riots and more acts of violence against the state. The "New Khan" Alexander Vaskorov Announced himself to the world declaring to rid mother Russia of its corrupt leaders.
Vaskorov was killed shortly after during a militia attack on an oil refinary in Siberia. It has since been claimed by Russian Government that Vaskorov was leader of a dissident terror group. But other sources say he was trying to free the country he loved.

The end of the year has seen an increase in trouble in Afghanistan with British Royal Marines hunting Taliban fighters in the Paktia mountains of North Eastern Afghanistan.

Afghan Troubles

The new year has started with a severe increase in rebel fighting in Afghanistan.

Taliban/Al-Qaeda Fighters embedded within the Paktia Mountains are proving difficult to find unless they descend into the lowlands and even then they are hard to identify amongst locals.

elements of British Royal Marines from 42 Commando and BPT Brigade Patrol Troop are stationed in the area and sources say a contingent of Special Forces are working in the area also.

UK forces have been assigned numerous tasks in the region including the disruption of Opium trade and trafficking.

Recent reports claim the Opium trade is on increase again after the initial coalition action in Afghanistan in 2001 when UK and US Forces used the destruction of Opium farms and trade lines as a way to deny terror groups a primary source of financing. But with recent troubles across the globe attention has been drawn away and the trade had flourished once more. But both UK and US goverments have sworn to put an end to the Afghan drug trade once and for all.

One week into the new year has seen two car bombs in Puktis valley towns, several attempted ambushes of British vehicle convoys on the Kandahar Highway, At least one large scale firefight in the mountains which according to SNN sources lasted well over 24 hours and involved British Marines and Afghan Police fighting Rebels near a mountain cave complex. Details are sketchy at present but SNN will bring u more as we get it.

Hells Highway

More trouble in the Paktia region of Afghanistan this week as a French news reporter is killed in a gunfight at an illegal checkpoint on the Kandahar Highway.

Jean Auteil 35 was killed when his vehicle was fired upon at a checkpoint set up by Taliban rebels near Junction 135 an extremely remote section of the road which is rapidly becoming known as Hells Highway the most dangerous road in the world. Also killed were two of Auteils protection team whos names are not known at present but it is known they were both South Africans.

The remainder of Auteils group consisting of a camera man and sound engineer were also in the vehicle but escaped with only minor wounds and were pulled to saftey by other members of the protection team who were following in a second vehicle.
It is thought the two bodyguards were outside the vehicle negotiating a pass through the checkpoint when they were gunned down and several stray rounds hit the car killing Auteil instantly.

British Royal Marines based in the area did however score a major victory over the rebels this week when they succesfully intercepted a large weapons shipment headed for the Paktia mountains.
It is thought that these weapons were to play a major part in the rebels fight to control the highway.
And as many here believe an uprising is only days away this is being viewed as a major morale boost to British troops who've been hampered in recent operations here due to weather conditions and and what appears to be a very elusive enemy.

CAUGHT

But Why The Delay?

At last SNN can reveal to the world what many may already know but now it is official .

Osama Bin Laden has been captured by British Coalition troops in Afghanistan the operation codenamed Intrinsic Sord took place in the Paktia mountain region on 21st of Jan but it has been 12 days of silence from military command on the mission carried out by British Royal Marines and Special Forces even though news of the capture leaked through local sources to other news groups.

Official reports state OBLwas captured after meeting with local clerics and a reporter at a remote hideaway when crack Britsh troops descended on the location with lethal precision wounding one and killing another of OBL fanatical bodyguards before finding the man himself hidden in a side room wounded and claiming to be a bodyguard himself. It is thought that he had shaved his beard off recently to make himself less recognisable. but local intel confirmed he was indeed OBL and he was then moved to secure location for medical treatment at the british base.

There followed an initial 24 hour assault on the British compound by Afghan rebels intent on rescuing there leader. at present details on events are sketchy at best but it is believed that OBL was airlifted out at approx 11AM on the 22 Jan and it is believed fierce fighting in the area continued for a week after with the marines under constant mortar and RPG attack almost 24 hours a day. The marines of 42 Commando stationed in the area due to return home in a few weeks after members of 2 Para Regiment arrive to relieve them.

The men and women involved in the capture of one of the worlds most wanted men should be treated to a heroes return when they arrive back in the UK its no less than they deserve.

But to the Government we would ask just one question Why the delay in letting the world know of such a high profile incident. We as citizens have a right to know whats going on in the world and we will hear your reasons with open ears.

Headlines

More trouble in Afghanistan this week as Taliban Rebels increase attacks on UK troops and local civilians.
5 attacks in as many days ranging from snipers to car bombs all along the Kandahar highway and at settlements throughout the Puktis valley and Paktia mountain region. Several people killed in the attacks inculding at least one British soldier.

Government finally breaks its silence over the capture of Osama Bin Laden with a statement earlier today claiming the lack of information initially released to the public was down to simple security reasons.
A press officer said this morning that the news of OBL's capture was not released untill experts were sure that the prisoner was indeed OBL and not one of his lookalike bodyguards. its is said that when he was captured Bin Laden had actually shaved off his beard in a bid to go unoticed. Bin Laden is now being held at a secure location after he was handed over to US.

Seoul has come under attack this week as trouble spots flare up all over North and South Korea.
Sources in the city say that attacks have happened for the past three nights and they come hard and fast by all accounts, One eye witness claimed he saw a small truck driving recklessly towards a check point before it screamed to a halt and a dozen men exited the vehicle shooting pretty much everything that moved. This attack alone left 15 people dead and a further 6 criticaly wounded.
Sources in Korea say that these attacks are carried out by soldiers loyal to the North and operating under the command of General Tong and other high ranking officers from the North who fled into hiding after the Coalition attacks on Pyangpong left the Norths army in dissaray.

An offical statement from DEA director Ted Shelling today claims the US is set for a major drugs flood unless action is taken against Cartels operating out of South America.
Shelling claims that despite the US war on drugs for the past 15 years they have made very little difference to the overall network despite taking down some of the biggest families. Shelling says " for every Cartel boss we remove we inadvertently allow three more to start up".

Shelling is confident that the forthcoming meeting of the Heads of State to sign the NAJSA (North American Joint Security Agreement) which is to be held in Mexico City will also be able to address the issue of the problems in South America as recent intel from several sources claim Cartels have definate ties to terror groups in Afghanistan.
It is claimed Cartels are buying opium and heroin from afghan groups and shipping it into the United states for distribution. These same terror groups have ties to the Bolivian CRONK Rebels and are thought to engage in cross training and operational assistance for terror attacks throughout the world.

New Terror Task Force

At a joint press conference today U.S President Walter J Barnes and British Prime Minister Peter McDowell
unveiled the new face in the war on terror a multi national task force trained and equipped specificaly to target terror groups across the world. The unit codenamed Global Recon has been tasked to strike hard and fast at any group found to be involved in plotting or carrying out terrorist attacks.
The new unit has allegedly been given a bottomless budget to fight its war and sources say that the men and women of this unit have earned themselves the nickname Ghosts due to their ability to strike from nowhere and be gone before the smoke clears.
It is thought that the Ghosts will be deployed later in the year for operations in various theatres including Africa and Afghanistan as well as security operations in Britain, mainland Europe and the Continental United States.

World News - March 22nd 2008. Breaking News

After a four day of press blackout SNN can now confirm that the U.S President Walter J Barnes was indeed the target of terrorist actions at the weekend during the signing of the NAJSA treaty in Mexico city.
President Barnes along with Mexican President Hector Salazar and Canadian Prime Minister Jeffery Deveraux were attacked during the signing of the treaty at the Metropolis in the city.

It is believed that factions of the Mexican Army not Loyal to Salazar attempted to stage a Military coup in the country with the help of Bolivian Rebel fighters the Cronks.

At present it is unclear how the heads of state escaped from the Metropolis but it is known they were picked up by a Marine transport group and and delivered to U.S Embassy were members of new Anti terror group Global Recon prepared them for extraction.

although unconfirmed by official sources its is thought that during this seige the presidents aid was snatched and held hostage before being executed and his brief case stolen. unfortunatley this case contained the code systems and passwords to launch Nuclear warheads across the world. Official sources at the White House deny this case is in enemy hands so we can only assume that Special Forces were able to retreive it before anyone could do any damage with it.

The Mexican Military officials responsible for the coup have been either killed or detained by loyalist forces that fought alongside the Americans and order has been restored to Mexico city.
A concern for all involved though is the dissapearance of all Cronk rebels after the fighting.
after the dust settled it became obvious that all was not well Mexican Army storage depots had been hit and Cleaned out leaving hundreds of weapons ranging from Assault rifles to ariel weapon delivery systems missing. Add this to the fact that during the fighting three major national banks in Mexico city were also cleared of all funds and it appears that the Cronk rebels may have used the coup to further there own ends.

It has been announced today that Sir Jonathan Brockenhurst will be taking over as head of British Intelligence within the next two weeks as present head david fairclough has announced his retirement.
Brockenhurst has long been favourite to become the new boss of SI7 and has already pledged to shake things up after recent incidents involving Agents and Controllers for the Agency.
Brockenhurst a Military hero during the Falklands campaign is well known for his zero tolerance stance on terror groups and the finance men behind such groups which makes him a favourite with downing street but he is also shrouded in controversy over his decisions to bend rules to breaking point to acheive the objective.

News Feature - April 3rd 2008

Today a spokesman for British Intelligence SI7 has claimed that the recent incident involving U.S president Barnes in Mexico when he was attacked by Bolivian Cronk rebels may have been part of a larger scheme involving a world wide terrorist organisation.
After anaylizing the retreived intel and the interrorgation of captured rebels and Mexican army conspiritors numerous facts have been confirmed via several independent channels and it is now known that the Bolivians had been in contact with an unknown source in Russia who may be alligned with the Siberian Liberation Group responsible for the Novreniya attack in october last year. and just two days ago SI7 intercepted communications between Bolivian Cronk leader Kesus and members of the Divine Brotherhood Of Roy in the Chad.
New head of SI7 Sir Jonathan Brockenhurst has today stated that all the facts will be gathered before any action is taken but when it is taken he has given his word it will be swift and efficent leaving no stone unturned in the search for what now appears to be an international community of terrorism.

World News - April 3rd 2008. Breaking News

It has been announced today that self proclaimed warlord General Azear the man responsible for the initial rebel uprising in Chad North Africa two years ago has infact been standing trial for the past 8 months at a closed door court in the haig.
Azear who once commanded the terror group known as Azears angels and conducted many acts of violence across Africa and some parts of Europe. has been standing trial for war crimes commited during his attempted coup in N'Djamena in October 2006.
A statement released earlier today said both sides arguments were almost over and a verdict should be reached within the next month but it is thought Azear will face the death penalty if found guilty. This news has been met with anger by his followers and concern from more conservative corners with fears his execution could ignite the tinder box that is Chad.
Azear was caught by Coalition Special Forces in N'Djamena during Operation Condor on October 10th 2006 he was quickly extracted to a naval warship and then transported to custody. His imprisonment has been the cause of violence across Africa ever since including much of the fighting in Chad last summer when Coalition Forces were forced in to a retreat within the city.
Many sources say the decision of execution will not be taken lightly but it is expected that if found guily he will indeed face the death penalty although it is at this stage unkown as to which method would be undertaken.
SNN will be following this story as it develops and will report more as it happens.

Azear Trial

The war crimes trail of General Azear today heard of his personal involvement in the deaths of three Britsh Special forces troops during a covert operation in the Breconstan mountains of Kazakhstan almost two years ago.
It was heard for the first time in the public arena that during the attempted rescue of a downed american pilot in May 2006 UK SF teams were able to locate and briefly capture the General at a terror training camp in the remote mountain range. on their extraction they ran into heavy enemy resistance and all three were wounded and unable to escape. This allowed Azear to be reunited with his loyal followers at which point he allegedly shot all three men and beheaded them before throwing their bodies to his men to be paraded through local villages as a sign of power.
The trial is expected to reach its conclusion within the next month after some minor delays which sources have claimed is partly down to security problems at the Haig.

Tuwkani's ambassador in Chad for talks

Exiled President of Chad Henry George Tuwkani has sent his personal aid back to his former country in the hope of opening talks with self appointed leaders the DBR (Divine Brotherhood of Roy).
it is hoped Malik Sangola the Presidents longest serving aid can broker a meeting between Tuwkani and DBR leaders with the hope of building a power sharing arrangement in the troubled African state.

Afghanistan

It Has today been confirmed that the men of British Royal Marines from 42 Commando and BPT Brigade Patrol Troop stationed in Paktia mountain region will be replaced within days by elements of 2 para Parachute Regiment. it is thought that upon arrival home in the UK the men of 42 and BPT will receive a heros welcome after their part in the capture of terror leader Osama Bin Laden back in February. 2 para will not only continue the work of the Marines in the fight against the Opium trade which is again flourishing in the area but also play a major part in a new hearts and minds operation to win over the locals in the struggle against Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters based in the mountains.

Azear Trial

Sources at the Haig claimed today that the verdict in the Azear trial could be reached within the week.

After a trial lasting almost two years during which the Former General has refused to recognise the court of the Haig or the charges of war crimes against him and at times demonstrated his protest with sometimes colourfull sometimes manic behaviour in the court itself. Some claim his actions are a bid to cast doubt on his sanity But most here at the Haig believe he will face the death penalty once the verdict comes in.

Tuwkani's ambassador in Chad for talks
Mailk Sangola Aid to president Tuwkani has opened official talks with members of DBR in N'Djamena Chad.
All talks are at present being held behind closed doors with no media access with both sides stating their aims of common ground with which to work from.

Elsewhere in the troubled North African state Militia violence is once again on the increase. With news of the imminent verdict of the Azear trial Local Militias in and around N'Djamena remaining loyal to their former leader have taken to the streets in much the same way as last years election riots began. Security Precautions are being put in place around the city in the event of a verdict of Death in the trial of Azear.

Afghanistan

As the first of the British troops from 42 Commando Royal Marines and BPT arrive home in UK after a highly successful Operation in the Paktia region of Afghanistan during which they took part in Operation Intrinsic Sord which Captured Wanted Terrorist Osama Bin Laden.
The soldiers of 2 Para have taken up where their predecessors left off. Cutting off the regions outgoing flow of Bad Brown (Pure heroin) seems to be a primary objective down to its ties with financing terror groups.
As part of the hearts and minds operation British troops will assist UN troops in protecting the Aid station and refugee village in the area.
It would seem though that even with their leader captured, the fighters of Al-Qaeda have no intention of giving up their fight. Road side bombings are now a daily sometimes hourly occurrence along with Mortar attacks on UK positions and illegal roadblocks and carjackings on the Kandahar highway an increasing problem.

Azear Verdict In

Keith George reporting from the Hague in Holland

Tonight after nearly two years of witness statements, testomonies and claims all bore under the constant pressure of the media and the eyes of the world the twelve people tasked with the uneasy and sometimes horrific job of hearing Azears crimes retold in court have finally after two weeks of locked down deliberation reached their final verdict.

General Udabi Azear has been found Guilty on all charges. Guilty of War Crimes and acts of Terror in the build up and during his attempted coup and reunification of Africa two years ago.
His sentence DEATH by Hanging.

We are unable to report on many of the charges actually bought against the former Tyrant due to legal and security reasons but one thing we do know at this time is that Azear's charges date up to at least one week before his capture by Coalition forces in N'Djamena Chad. Which suggests that the crazed General was still commiting atrocities within his home city right up until the end an act previously unheard of in similar trials.

The verdict delivered here just one hour ago puts to rest a long and drawn out affair the like of which has never been seen before here at the Hague, and the ramifications of the verdict itself can already be felt even here in Southern Holland. Police have been dispatched to deal with street disturbances as hardline Azear followers protest against the outcome. one just wonders how long before those ramifications start to show in trouble spots like N'Djamena the town where the former general himself was captured.

Azears date of execution has yet to be set but is expected to be announced within the next few days as will the details of location or rather the country that it is decided will carry out the act due to unstable situation in Chad.

Keith George reporting from the Hague well bring you more news as we get it.

Azear Verdict Sparks Violence

The Guilty verdict carrying a death sentence handed down to former General Udabi Azear has sparked violence in many cities across the world where followers still loyal to the captured Tyrant protesting with large scale street violence and damaging of public property.

In N'Djamena Chad Coalition forces struggled to maintain control of the reduced green zone as angry clashes broke out between supporters of the Azear regime and those loyal to exiled president Tuwkani. The situation has or seems to have cooled at present but all areas remain on high alert.

Still no news on the actual date of the execution although it is expected to be announced before the end of the week.

UN Under Fire in Afghanistan

UN troops across Afghanistan have rapidly become the most targeted soldiers in the country after a series of attacks on aid stations in the past week. Many here claim the mountain fighters are now well aware of the hampering restrictions of the deployment facing the multinational peace keeping force regarding rules of engagement a policy that we are told is being looked into.
To date in the last 2 months UN forces across the country have lost 12 men to sniper fire, roadside bombs and in one case a 100 strong mob were responsible for the death of one soldier and the wounding of 8 others.
