ISAT  forces face a struggle to win over many of those in CHAD faithfull to the DBR who claim the vision of AZEAR guides them. but senior officials and military chiefs are confident that they can make the country safe in time for elections.

A long struggle ahead

Coalition commanders today warned they face a long hard struggle in the CHAD.

Major simmons of the Royal fusiliers stated his men and those  of his American counterparts from 1st Battalion 15th infantry regiment  were
"more than ready for  what we know will be a long struggle ahead but were better trained and better equipped than ever before".
The major went on to explain that all unit commanders had spoken to their counterparts in the Rifles and the US Black Scarves who have recently rotated out of Chad after the previous tour ended. "The men coming into this theatre now are infinitly better prepared to face the enemy and are all eager to get started with the initial stages of Op Alexander".

The battlegroup is thought to be heading to  Nema Nemasso, Northern Chad a known stronghold of the DBR  since the  withdrawl in 2008 of the UN peace keeping force stationed in the area.

ISAT forces in 24 hour battle for Nema Nemasso

Op Alexander Began at the weekend with some of the fiercest fighting British forces have seen since world war 2.

The battle for Nema Nemasso began shortly after 11AM saturday morning when ISAT forces from UK 2nd battalion Royal Fusiliers and US 1st Battalion 15th Infantry Regiment  moved into the town and reestablished FOB NOX in the northern sector and immediatly deployed troops to capture areas of key importance.
Fighting died down in the late afternoon and coalituion forces attempted to regroup and take stock after 6 hours of continous fighting. But as the sun fell on the spiritual home of the DBR  the followers of AZEAR began a counter attack and at one point UK troops were fighting enemy inside the FOB itself.
Sources claim that at some point in the early evening it was confirmed that combatents were using the mosque as a firing position against ISAT forces so several sections were deployed to capture the mosque which they did leading to a long sustained battle for control.

Fighting died down during the night as both sides took stock but as the sun came up on sunday morning the DBR launched another counter attack trying to retake the mosque and capturing the ISAT held KGB regional HQ from here they were able to launch wave after wave of attack onto FOB NOX and once again UK troops found themselves fighting for their lives  as the enemy managed to use several points of attack to cover a small infiltration groups entry to the command building. eventually ISAT forces retook the posistion and they now have firmly reestablished themselves within the town and will continue to carry out operations against rebel DBR factions.

Rumours that the assault force was under the command of special forces has been denied by whitehall and washington.

Sources claim the battlegroups next target will be Moussoro another known DBR stronghold. But ISAT commanders are refusing to confirm or deny these rumours.

We will bring you more news as it happens.

News 30th March 2011

Moussoro tension increases

Op Alexander continues as ISAT forces have established FOB Herakles in the western sector of Moussoro in preperation for Op Kingsman due to begin any day now according to military sources.

It seems the town has become something of a transport hub for DBR fighters moving across CHAD. Moussoro in Kanem CHAD is held by many as the home of the Kanem Guera Brotherhood  led by interim president Victor Alluma.
Alluma hopes for permenent election in the summer and will wish any DBR activity in his birthplace will be short lived and some claim he has even offered assitance to what he  has in the past called the invading west. Those close to the KGB leader deny he has reached out to ISAT for help to clear Moussoro stating as Alluma has that a free Africa must be earned by Africans and not the west.

Heavy Losses for ISAT in Moussoro

ISAT  forces in Moussoro CHAD  launched operation Kingsman at the weekend designed to remove DBR fighters from the home of the Kanem Guera Brotherhood. What they actually found was a city teeming with devoted fighters and follwers of AZAEAR. from the outset ISAT faced an uphill struggle as the DBR occupied the entire city and coalition forces came under heavy fire as soon as they entered the  city and tried to establish there forward operating base in the western sector. Suffering heavy losses for the first 4 hours left the ISAT command with little choice but to change the desired plan of pushing east into the heart of the city and so following a series of precision airstrikes on specific buildings UK and US troops pushed south east and managed to gain a foothold on the southern edge of the city. from here they slowly began to gain some precious ground but still taking heavy losses left them thin on the ground and unable to push on any further without losing the resupply routes back to the now firmly established FOB Herakles.

Fighting continued into the night and what sources claim was essentially a skeleton crew of ISAT troops defended there posistions against continious attack from a never ending supply of enemy fighters. As the sun rose on sunday DBR fighters began with renewed fury the attacks to force ISAT out of Moussoro. And by 11 am the DBR had managed to push far enough west that they actually  surrounded the area of FOB Herakles. Fighting here continued with major  losses on both sides for many hours until Brigade HQ ordered the battlegroup to extract all troops from the city.

ISAT commanders have stated that although Kingsman failed to acheive its objectives at the weekend Britain and America remain positive that the Alexander battlegroup can still help to make a more secure CHAD in time for the summe elections.

Sources close to Victor Alluma claim he was outraged by the wanten destruction of his birthplace by ISAT airstrikes and those close to the interim president believe it could of been the nail in the coffin of the uneasy alliance between KGB and ISAT.

SNN News Headlines 20th May 2011

Chadian Minister Claude Utaka Killed

CHADS interim president Victor Alluma and his government have suffered a great loss it has been revealed that the KGB minister for internal security has been killed by dissident fighters in Cameroon after his convoy got ambushed in a remote area of Cameroon near the Chadian border.
It is thought that Utaka was on his way to a meeting with leaders of the local Henchi tribe who live in the rolling hills and rice fields of the border country. Full details are not known as yet but sources in CHAD are claiming that Utaka was there at the behest of Alluma himself who is said to have grown very concerned with DBR influence over Henchi tribesmen.
The killing seems to have re-ignited some long running feuds with neighbouring tribes and dozens of people have already died as civil unrest turned into violence that only seems possible in Africa. The Cameroon government has issued statements declaring the situation under control and several news groups have footage of military and police using tear gas and water cannons on crowds across a large portion of eastern Cameroon.

Election Fever

Election fever has hit CHAD as the main parties have announced the runners for August’s elections.
SNN will be bringing you all the news as it happens in N’Djamena in the build up to Election Day.
ISAT forces have been placed in control of security for the city as hundreds of thousands of people begin to descend upon the capital to hear the runners in their campaign speeches.

The three main runners at this time are
•   Viktor Alluma,  Khanem  Ghuerra  Brotherhood (Currently serving as interim president )
•   Otto Jober  Devine Brotherhood of ROY
•   Oswald Botangi  Current chief of Police
We will be bringing you a detailed profile of each candidate as the campaign continues.

Security fears have increased greatly since the DBR/KGB split at Massakori in June but the capital has yet to see any of the violence that has accompanied the election trail so far across Africa.
An ISAT spokesperson said this week that there would be a heavy presence on the streets of N’Djamena until after the elections had been completed and any threat to disrupt or attack the proceedings would be dealt with immediately. ISAT forces currently deployed in CHAD for Op Alexander 1 are British 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers and American 1st Battalion 15th Infantry regiment who will see the end of their tour shortly after the Elections.

SNN would tonight like to issue an correction and apology Pascal Tombalaye who was wrongly named as Oswald Botangi in our previous report on the Chadian elections. Comissioner Tombalaye is in fact the current chief of police in N'Djamena and will be standing for office in two weeks time.

We can also exclusivly reveal a statement he made to SNN as part of his election campaign manifesto.

One People, One Chad

We, the people of Chad, are on the verge of a momentous time in our history. Years of dictatorship and single party rule has favoured the diffusion of tribalism and violations of human rights, thus generating war, political violence, hatred, intolerance and suspicion between the different communities that make up the Chadien nation.

The result; a nation prime for the picking by those who exploit our brothers and sisters for their own gain, and  those who would use our crisis as an excuse to invade our glorious country and subject us to their idea of liberty and freedom.

But now there is a real chance for us, the people of Chad, to define our own future. It is time to put an end to the humanitarian, institutional and political crisis which has been shaking our nation for more than three decades. It is time for all Chadiens to join together as one people of Chad. It is time for us to move to a better future removed from the shackles of those who would oppress us.

In but a few weeks we, Les Chadiens, will be able to exercise our free will in national elections.  To exercise our right under democratic process to elect a government to take us to a new unity of Chadiens and take our rightful place in the unity of our African brothers. Only by uniting as one people can we secure our future.

There will be those who see this as a threat to their power, those who have become comfortable while the true people of Chad have suffered. Those who will try to stop a unified Chad taking control of its own resources for the benefit of Chad and its people.  Do not let them intimidate you. Take to streets as one people for Chad, for yourselves. Exercise your right, and your vote, and on the glorious day of our new future you can say that you were there, you were part of the tide that turned our nation to its rightful path under a truly democratic government.

One people, One Chad

Pascal Tombalaye
Direction de la Documentation et de la Sécurité
Commissaire de Police

SNN will be bringing you statements and manifestos from all the candidates over the next week so stay tuned in for all the news.

From the Stirling Airsoft Blog http://blog.stirlingairsoft.com/all-out-war/tour-of-duty/snn-news-headlines-4th-august-2011/:

Another SNN exlusive tonight as we reveal the much anticipated DBR election manifesto.

Many have written off the DBR party as wolves in sheeps clothing and claimed that any government led by them would create nothing short of a terrorist state. That has not dettered the party from releasing possibly the most outrageous manifesto in known history. But election day draws closer and the DBR popularity rises every day so time will will tell.

President Victor Aluma declares peace in the CHAD

The newly elected President of CHAD Victor Aluma has declared peace across the country as the last elements of fighting died out after sundays bloody confrontation after the election results.

In a statement to SNN the president said he was pleased to have found a working relationship with ISAT forces after a hard long slog to the elections in N'Djamena last saturday.

Trouble started sunday as Aluma was announced as the president and rebel factions believed to be part of the DBR Movement threw a hand grenade at the canidates podium all three candidates were rushed to safety inside the KGB party HQ where it is thought a fire fight ensued between the DBR protection team for Otto Jobre and ISAT forces trying to protect Aluma and his newly appointed deputy who was also a presidential candidate Pascal Tombalaye the firefight resulted in the deaths of the protection team and and Jobre himself who it is said drew a pistol and fired several shots towards Aluma before being killed. These events sparked fighting which witnesses have said is the most fierce they have seen in CHAD.  It also marked the first of what many hope will be joint KGB and ISAT military operations as both forces fought side by side in the aftermath of the grenade attack.

The DBR managed to unleash a second batch of the L.Z.R.D 147  pathogen but it was detonated lower than intended and therefore unable to have the intended effects on the population. Fortunatly the anti lizard innoculations had been issued to 99% of the population and so most people suffered no ill effects whatsoever.

According to the KGB manifesto ISAT forces will be reduced significantly as soon as the remaining troops are shipped out now that OP Alexander has come to an end. The men and women of UK 2nd Batalion Royal Fusiliers an U.S 1st Batalion 15th Infantry Regiment have been commended on the job they have done and now look forward to finally going home.

The question remains just how long will it be before the Brave men and women are once again back in the CHAD.

SNN 360 NEWS SPECIAL: FOCUS ON ALUMA's CHAD- Is Victor healthy for an ailing nation?

Since last August, Victor Aluma has, according to the United Nations, been legally in controlling power in Chad.  He is the latest incarnation of leader that has believed himself the visionary and guide to rebuilding the once proud nation back up to international credibility.  Violence and armed struggle in this country has been common place for nearly ten years now, from General Azear's ill fated plans for a united Africa through to the recent civil war between the Kanem Guera Brotherhood and Divine Brotherhood of Roy, one must take a step back and admire their resolve to regenerate but keep close the doubt that the  inevitable will happen again.

Many nations around the world voiced their concern for the withdrawal of the International Security Assistance Taskforce, ISAT, when Aluma gained office, but to date he has stayed true to his word of increasing security and not pursuing the removal of DBR clans from the contry.  Some believe this maybe timed with the reduction of  security operations over the winter period on his part as well as the DBR not retaliating until they can rebuild an effective infrastructure to strike back at the KGB.

Positive steps have been made though by NATO and it's forces to maintain some level of knowledge of Aluma's plans and movements.  The Training Team Chad, TTC, is a multi-national group of instructors who have had experience of operating in Chad through previous tours and are conducting a program to increase the professionalism and skills of the fledgling KGB National Army.  Some sources close to NATO headquarters though have revealed to SNN exclusively that the TTC is compiled only of Tier 1 and Tier 2 Special Forces members and have a dual role of supporting the KGBNA while on operations also; no NATO governments that we approached commented on the role of their Special Forces but did say that their representatives on the TTC were to be commended for their work so far in Chad.  Are these shadow warriors really there to assist Aluma or to keep an eye on the  investments their governments have made in the rebuilding of the country and to be able to respond quietly and decisively if another situation evolves like Azear?

The only definite that is known is that the long suffering population of Chad cannot heal properly while the wounds of civil war have not closed.

In a typically candid interview, Victor Aluma launched another tirade of accusations, threats and nationalistic rhetoric that has now become a regular scene internationally.  Speaking in N'Djamena to assembled journalists from around the world, Aluma claimed that in northern Chad, the DBR had taken to, "a schorched earth policy against the nation they say they are fighting for".   We at SNN have had reports of  localised looting and damage in towns in that region but nothing on the scale being described- we are however not at liberty to move freely in that area unless embedded with KGBNA units because of its volatility in recent months.

Aluma continued by describing the DBR fighters as, "terrorists" and, "lame dogs that deserve to be shot down in the streets", a move that cannot be seen as anything but inflammatory.  Questions were asked by the media about the KGBNA's human rights record after the DBR recently claimed torture and executions were taking place against their people- a suggestion that was vigorously denied by Aluma and also his Chief of General Staff, General Idi Hatemi, "this is another underhand tactic the DBR are using against the legally elected and democratic government of Chad.  How can you believe the words of these people when they are the ones attacking towns and villages, they are the liars!"  Hatemi continued, stating that, "the DBR are acting illegally against a sovereign state, their insolence will be repaid tenfold, the DBR are a fading force, mark my words."  Victor Aluma added, "If no one else in Africa, let alone the world, can see what the DBR are doing to our proud nation then we will have to act with righteous vengeance against those who threaten the state.  We are not afraid to act under the impotent gaze of many, we will make sure that our future generations are safe and secure from the threat we face in the present."

So far we have had no response from the Divine Brotherhood of Roy to the hard talking words of the government but many are already predicting a surge in retaliation against KGBNA forces and government institutions.

Victor Aluma closed his conference with the announcement of a week of celebrations in N’Djamena to commemorate the first anniversary of his ascension to power, culminating in a city wide festival on August 27th.  No further details were released to the press but sources close to Aluma have expressed concern at the potential security risks the city faces in such a current climate.

A year of power

In the past year a new man, a new era, a new power has been overseeing Chad and her people, Victor Aluma.  But has this new stage in Chad's history brought it out of the troubled times the world has lain witness to for so long?  The short answer is no, violence flares and the people are oppressed.  The murkier answer is that no one truly believed President Aluma would steer the nation's fortunes back around in only 365 days, but he is trying.

Victor Aluma must be credited with trying to restore law and order in N'Djamena and carry the sentiment out to the furthest corners on its ripples, but like ripples in a lake they lose power and momentum the further they travel and this has been witnessed by many.  Even with his General Chief of Staff, the newly 're-born' General Mugabe, leading from the front of the KGB National Army offensives against militant DBR fighters, the iron fist has failed to crush the dissent and now pockets of strongholds have appeared across the country.

International commentators believe the West have not assisted fully in Chad also, but these same commentators cried out for Chad's independence from foreign involvement only last summer, it appears the former ISAT nations are between a rock and a hard place.  For those who have read between the lines though it has been clear that these nations still have been lending their arms through the Training Team Chad project, although none of these states have ever gone on record discussing any combat roles they have mounted.

So, as Victor Aluma gathers his KGB folllowers in N'Djamena for the celebrations of his anniversary and birth of his first son, Gecko Aluma, we must be fair and balanced.  His tenure as President will not be judged by his first year in office alone, we must say that he has started the journey and he will need to remain constant and strong willed for it to  be completed by the end of his term.
