SAFE SENTINEL
--------------------

Mission Debrief from OpFor Section - Mzunga's Westside Massive
4 man merc unit

As Mzunga's hired help, we were mercenaries contractually obliged to carry out the will of Mzunga himself and ensure his safety.  There was Shesuk Mahmood, his cousins Bilal and Ahmed, and the ever zany Caleb KarateKiller.  Having been educated at Oxford University, they then set up Oxford Tactical Solutions, a mercenary company, and went to seek their fortunes protecting the diamond mines of Liberia.

The mission began with a rude awakening as we discovered just how uneasy the alliance with Eric Katanga's Freetown Posse was.  The posse attacked us immediately, and we took some injuries on our side, although ultimately medical aid was available and given to those who needed it, and we managed to round up the posse members, and ask them a few questions before they were executed.

Afterwards we were finally able to orchestrate a proper plan of action, and given the recent attack, Mzunga felt it necessary to investigate the drug runner's hideout to the North-West of the mines.  A bona fide member of the West Side Massive, a man called Rupert KillerKiller, was tasked to go with us on a patrol to have a look at the hideout.  We established radio communications to the mine base, and set off up into the mountains on a long patrol to Katanga's hideout.  As we moved up the mountain side, we checked in at various points to maintain communications to base, report in any findings and our location, and ensure radio range.  Eventually however, we did loose radio contact to base, but continued on mission.  We flanked around the North of the hideout, but as we decended into position overlooking the base to perform a CTR, we were bumped by a recon unit from 42 Commando that was operating in the area.  A brief firefight ensued, but all the patrol were eventually hit, and taken captive.  It was deemed that they were too important to release, and all of the OTS men still remain in British custody.  The company denied all knowledge of their actions and command of Oxford Tactical Solutions passed to Johnny Cook.  Rupert KillerKiller managed to talk his way out of the situation and was eventually released.

In the afternoon at 16:30hrs, Oxford Patrol was sent to monitor a deal with Eric Katanga in a small house in the valley.  The patrol moved up the river bed in the base of the valley, but half way to the objective we were informed that the deal was off, as a key player had been taken captive by the Police.  We moved up to the police station to check out the situation, but elected not to approach with our guns.  In addition, our patrol was spotted, so we fell back to the mine base.

By this time it was beginning to get dark.  We spent a while protecting the mine as our contract stated, before responding to the threat posed by 42 Commando operating in the area.  We sent a patrol to CTR their base where the WMIK Land Rovers were based, but ultimately the patrol proved fruitless.

We returned to regroup at the diamond mine, before heading to The Place to monitor another deal taking place.  Neither Katanga nor Mzunga would be present, fearing that the situation was a trap.  Indeed it was.  No sooner had we set up positions in and around the building than we were taking fire.  Rupert KillerKiller escaped through a back window, and one of Oxford Patrol was captured and interrogated - it was 42 Commando again!    The rest of Oxford Patrol evacuated during a large exchange of gunfire up to the OTS Land Rover that was parked nearby, and luckily sustained no casualties before driving out of the area.

Expecting a follow-up attack, we remained on standby at the mine base for some time, and stood down when none came.

The next day, we investigated a local town house for use as a FOB, and monitored the British WMIK base from there.  Seeing a Land Rover move out, we set off to ambush it - the WMIK patrols had caused us trouble all weekend (although had not killed or injured any of our number), and we wanted to destroy one.  The ambush went well, with Christian placing a grenade perfectly onto the back of the Land Rover with a good throw, and the rest of Oxford Patrol killing the survivors.

Christian then formed up with us making our patrol number 5 in total.

We proceeded to Katanga's hideout to try and find stolen diamonds and drugs, but we only found a small amount of drugs.  We could hear enemy vehicles approaching, and soon afterwards, we sustained a major contact with the commandoes.  Unfortunately, despite hitting many of them, they overwhelmed us, and took a number of us prisoner.  More mercenaries were hit by the second WMIK on the road as they moved to try and secure the Police station.  Ultimately, the WMIKs of 42 Commando, moved up and secured the diamond mine, killing or capturing the remainder of our force.  They gained control of the mine, the drug hideout, and all movement within the valley, although our VIPs managed to escape the area carrying most of the important diamonds, drugs, and cash.

Oxford Tactical Solutions was all but eradicated in the action, with not a single member surviving, but the large cash sum they secured for completion of all their objectives was paid to their families.

All in all, we all had a good weekend, with some new faces and some great patrols and firefights.  Man of the match was Christian who single-handedly became a demi-god on at least two occasions and really helped our patrol in achieving their objectives.  Look forward to reading the other debriefs!
