wats the M16 like?

 This was the first aeg i bought , and its marui ( suffers from the dreaded barrel wobble)
   reliable and after a upgrade and tight bore barrel performed well in woodland and fibua
  but too clumsy for  FISH  and any tight space .
 But after a bit the movement in the barrell really starts to do your head in , and once
 you compare it to a CA which is rock solid or my G@P  , well it just doesnt get used any more

Depends which manufacturer/model you go for.  I wouldn't recommend a Marui M16 - it'll get barrel wobble after a few knocks.  Go for G&P if you want style and good looks, or better still in my opinion, get one of the Classic Army ones - they now offer everything from the M16VN right through to the M16A4, and the reliability is very good - I've only just had to take mine for a repair after 4 years of hard abuse, and perhaps over 100,000 rounds.

Freddy would have me tell you though that the M16 is a defensive weapon, and you really ought to look at an M4 Carbine for special operations.  Whichever model you go for, consider the accessories you will potentially want for it too.  If you buy a model with RIS (Rail Interface System), then you will be able to attach most things to your gun, although if you're looking for comfort, you may prefer one without, as it's nicer to hold a gun with a proper moulded foregrip over long periods of time, and you may decide you'll only require the basic set up anyway.  Many members of Team Stirling began their airsoft careers with completely tricked-out guns (an M4 SOPMOD in my case), but soon came to prefer the light weight and controlability of the basic setup, and so ended up retrofitting their guns to return them to the original pattern.

With so many M16 variants to choose from, it's your call what you go for, but I'd personally stand by Classic Army, as I have 3 and may even buy more!

 Ed,s spot on with his advice
                 My classic army tac carbine is as solid as a rock
     But i still prefer my SR16 ( m4 with front Ris rails ) i usually just leave the RIS covers on it
     unless ive got a torch or vert grip on it  Wink

I've tried to cover most periods/theatres since 'L' det was formed, hence -

* Thompson - Western Desert ('40's)
* MP40 - European Theatre (40's)
* M1 Carbine - Malaya (ok, not an AEG, but a fine rifle all the same) ('50's)
* M16A1 - Oman, NI, Falklands ('60's, '70's, 80's)
* M16A2 - G1 onwards (needs a 203 fitted and cam'd) ('90's, '00's)
* Colt Commando - G1/2, Covert Op's
* G3SG/1 - Counter Sniper/Support (in progress)
* L85A2 - 'Covert' Foot Patrols/Close Protection Detail (in progress)
* AK47 - Iraqistan/Eastern Bloc
* MP5 - CRW
* MP5SD - Covert Infiltration
* MP5k - CPO

The SG/1 & MP5 also double for ARV/SO19

For reference, backup are Jac Browning ('40's thro. '90's), PPK (covert) & G17 (ARV/SO19)

Current wish list - mk2 Sten, Minimi
