There is also evidence that the Opium farms and transport networks are once again fully operational. It is suspected that several high ranking Al-Qaeda controllers are at present using one of the remote camps to train new cells ready for deployment around the world.
Situation:
12 months on from the success of UK forces in Operation Silent Harvest in the Puktia valley new intelligence shows the area has once again become a staging area for Taliban rebels working out of the training camps hidden in the mountains. There is also evidence that the Opium farms and transport networks are once again fully operational.

3 Para / B Sqd Mobility troop: British DPM - 30 places
Taliban /Al-Qaeda: Civilian/militia - 40 places
Mission:
3 Para UK Parachute Regiment:
Deployed to restore order to region, Locate and cease all Opium related activity and protect villages against rebels. Command fears a repeat of last years forced recruitment of local men into the militia ASU (Active Service Unit)
Detachment of SAS B squadron Mobility troop:Locate Training camp and conduct CTRs for possible assault, capture or eliminate High ranking Al-Qaeda fighters. Conduct joint Ops with 3 Para.
