TweetChad's President, Victor Aluma, has announced a week of celebrations in N’Djamena to commemorate the first anniversary of his ascension to power. His Joint Chiefs have prepared a contingency plan in case the Divine Brotherhood of Roy exploit the occasion and bring their guerrilla tactics to the city.
N’Djamena has been the nucleus of African conflict and armed struggle for over half a decade. Chad’s leader, Victor Aluma, vowed to improve security and the livelihoods of his people during his swearing in ceremony after successfully winning the democratic elections of August last year. During his self titled ‘speech of the Second Coming’, Aluma made claims that a new infrastructure would enable Chad to ‘regain her pride and prosperity’ and become the ‘Jewel of Africa’.
Si7 have paid particular attention to this statement as some of the rhetoric echoes that of the infamous General Azear. They have also followed the fallout and chatter from his speech as Western Governments have heavily funded the substantial rebuild of water, transport and electricity installations as well as trialling emerging energy technologies. It is feared that these could become targets for enemies of the state or by foreign hostile nations conducting industrial espionage. Both scenarios have been highlighted as unacceptable and damaging to those Governments responsible for providing the installations.
Going against the recommendations of his Internal Security Minister, Aluma has announced a week of celebrations in N’Djamena to commemorate the first anniversary of his ascension to power. With the intention of bringing festivities to the people and the National Army and giving respite from the last few years, several journalists have already started drawing comparisons between this and the heady days of the Roman Emperors. Aluma’s Joint Chiefs have prepared a contingency plan in case the Divine Brotherhood of Roy exploit the occasion and bring their guerrilla tactics to the city.
