15-16 July 2017
Location: IVO Maibo, Moyen-Chari, Southern Chad
Following the attempted coup in the Central African Republic, the Azearian State terrorist group are now attempting to exploit the power vacuum created by the death of the Séléka leader Banjo Tosin.
Tosin was killed during a TF29 operation to recover the President of the CAR; Faustin-Archange Touadera was later recovered and moved to a safe location. Fighting continues for control of the capital Banguri, but SIGINT has confirmed a large scale mobilisation of AS forces. Satellite imagery from Sarh, a long standing terrorist stronghold in the south of Chad, shows multiple vehicles including troop transporters all moving towards the CAR border.
SOTF-C have been deployed onto the border IVO Maibo which is one of several suspected border crossing points being used by Azearian State fighters. From here SOTF-C will conduct mobility operations to prevent AS crossing over into the Central African Republic.
- Conduct mobility operations to disrupt AS movements
- Eliminate Azearian State HVIs
- Continue the flow of supplies across the border
- Protect command and control network
