In November 2016, SOTF-C conducted Operation Fortitude to apprehend former Chadian President Victor Aluma, who was in the process of attempting to make a hostage exchange with Chadian terror groups.
Mahamat Zene Cherif, the UN representative for Chad was taken hostage by KOA and AS in September and it is assessed he still remains in the hands of these groups following Aluma’s arrest.
Through HUMINT gathering, SI7 have identified a Swiss banking company that is facilitating the movement of large sums of money for the KOA, including Rasheed Sadeeki and high ranking members of several other terror groups and arms dealers.
Adnan Zaharoff, a known Turkish arms dealer, is in Switzerland to receive payment for an illegal arms deal recently completed in Azerbaijan. His buyers, potentially members of the Caucasian Front, are delivering the cash to a remote mountain lodge where Zaharoff is staying whilst in Switzerland.
Once the deal exchange is complete Zaharoff, will physically transfer the cash to his contact at the Dupont Excelsior bank in Geneva.
