Operation Cold Stone
27-28 January 2018
Location: N’Djamena, Chad
During Operation Sightline, in Faya, Northern Chad, August 2017, elements of TF29 successfully captured the extremist cleric Mohammed Jem.
The decision was made that the cleric would face trial in Chad and be judged by a jury of his peers. President Fotmon believed this decision would help the country to advance its policies towards extremism, both domestically and in the eyes of the international community.
TF29 have conducted a handover of the Mohammed Jem to their counterparts in TF Black, who currently maintain security in the capital.
SIGINT has highlighted a surge in communications between splinter terrorist factions in Chad, declaring that Mohammed Jem has committed an act of betrayal after releasing intelligence that lead to the capture of Mansur Alkaritha and the death of Rasheed Sadeeki, both members of Omar Gawd’s war council.
Recent intercepts suggest that these splinters groups may in fact attempt to eliminate the cleric themselves as revenge.
