27-29 April 2018
3 Day Combat Mission
Location: N’Djamena, Chad
With confirmation that the presidential election will take place in the Chad capital during the summer, security priorities have been shifted towards the monitoring and removal of any threats to the democratic process.
TF Black, now bolstered with support from TF Knight and TF Gold, has been tasked with the handling of security operations in the build-up to the elections.
Deploying from “The Station”, located within the secure Camp Fernandez, joint UK/US special forces groups will continue working together as they have for several years.
Operation Cold Stone almost led to the capture of KOA council leader Abu Zyr Nisa by TF Black, and it was confirmed that he had left the property only a short while before the raid went in. Abu Zyr Nisa remains at large but still within the vicinity of N’Djamena.
Since then, operations have been ramped up to pre-empt potential threats. Arrests have been made utilising seized intel and ground assets, with TF Knight successfully employing the Find-Fix-Finish process. Several black-market arms dealers and narcotics traffickers have been among the arrests, including Maek Orji who had initially been approached as an asset but upon refusal to assist was then targeted as an HVI.
